Important Notice: COVID-19 Closure
School Closed Until Further Notice
The school remains closed until further notice due to the COVID19 crisis.
The Prime Minister announced on Sunday 10th May that the government’s aim is for a partial opening of schools, starting with Reception classes, Year 1 and Year 6 from 1 June. We have also been told that the actual decision on this will be reliant on scientific tests set out by the government and which will be reviewed on 28 May. Later in the month, the intention is also that Year 10 students have some face-to-face contact before the Summer holidays and we are waiting for further guidance on this.
Senior leaders in the school are currently drafting a plan for the wider reopening of schools., starting with Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 should we be required to reopen from 1 June 2020. As soon as this is confirmed, we will contact all families with further information.

Welcome to George Mitchell School
George Mitchell School is a popular and successful All-through school, educating children across three phases: Early Years, Primary and Secondary. We have almost 1000 children from nursery age to Year 11. Being an all-through school gives us great opportunities to tailor our curriculum and provision to the needs of every child and we are continuously looking at ways to stretch and challenge our students.
