Nursery/Primary and Secondary Transition/Admissions
George Mitchell School is an all-through school which includes a nursery, a 2 form entry primary (60 places per year group) and a 4 form entry secondary school (120 places per year group).
George Mitchell Primary students who wish to transfer to George Mitchell Secondary can apply directly.
If your child is in year 6 and you would like them to continue their education at the school when transferring into year 7, you are eligible for automatic transfer. The school will make contact with parents directly to make arrangements.
Admissions to us are managed by the Local Authority. All pupils wishing to join should follow the guidance from the Borough to select their school placements and return the forms to the admissions authority by the published date. If your child wishes to transfer to George Mitchell School mid-term, please contact Waltham Forest Admissions Service using the appropriate information: https://www.walthamforest.gov.uk/content/applying-secondary-school-place. We are unable to accept any applications for a school place directly.
Where a school is oversubscribed the following criteria are used by the admissions authority to decide upon the intake for the school:
- Statement of special educational needs
- Medical conditions
- Siblings currently attending the school
- A son/daughter of a qualified teacher employed at the school
For any further information please contact the Headteacher‘s PA, Mrs Kathleen Smith (Kathleen.firstname.lastname@example.org). We look forward to you becoming part of our school community!
