Welcome to the EAL department. If you speak a language other than English at home or if you are a newly arrived student with limited or no English, you can count on our help. We support pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL pupils) through many ways in all phases (EYFS, Primary and Secondary) so that they feel valued and confident and consequently achieve their full potential in all curriculum subjects.
For new arrivals we organise Intensive Induction Classes so that they can quickly integrate into the new environment. They also participate in Paired Reading Sessions to improve their reading skills and learn new vocabulary. If you are with us for a longer time and your English is good you will attend Intervention Classes, where you can improve your English further. Also, we provide In-Class Support so you can easily access the curriculum and actively participate in class work. In this regard we support teachers in planning their lessons and preparing resources so that you are fully integrated into class activities.
